From Mrs. Anderson: "Soon you will see students around the school and at events snapping pictures for the yearbook. With this task comes great responsibility! I try to be as hands off as possible with the camera to be sure the yearbook really embodies the students' work. They are responsible for everything from making sure the batteries are charged, all the way to making sure their pictures are uploaded to the correct location. We can't wait to continue to improve this year!"

From Mrs. Flandermeyer: "The 8th grade English classes are currently working on a unit about rites of passage. We began by reading a short story titled "Red Roses" in which a young girl experiences an event that marks an important stage in her life. The students then partnered up to brainstorm milestones that many people experience throughout their lives and then created a timeline of the milestones. The students then did a quick write describing a rite of passage that has held the most significance for themselves or someone they know well."

From Mrs. White: "LA II students read a line from a song or play today and then had to choose who sang or wrote the line. There were 3 choices to choose from, and they had to move to the correct corner of the room with the sign for their particular choice. We talked about how song lyrics contain multiple literary elements, including rhyme. We also discussed second guessing ourselves and how to use context clues to help identify unknown information. It was fun to watch students really discuss and provide reasons for their choices. They also learned that just because the majority chose an option, that option was not always correct!"

From Mrs. Dove: "Mrs. Piscopo’s Kindergarteners are learning about book care. After reading about it, we went into the STEAM Lab and using old book pages that were going to be thrown away, we wrote on the page with a pencil and marker, cut, bent and tore the page and finally added water to it with an eye dropper. After that, Mrs. Dove asked them to put the page back together. 😳 They realized that they couldn’t do it. Now, they know why you should take good care of our library books and especially keep our water bottles away from them. What a fun experiment!!"
