As we go into our conference track meet today, we want to wish all of our junior high and high school track athletes the best of luck.
From Coach Bates “We have had a phenomenal season with all of our athletes. Many have won medals at several of the meets we’ve participated in. But more importantly, all of them have experienced winning in their own way.”
“Winning for our team does not always look like a medal or a plague. For us, it looks like a new Personal Record in a field event or running event. For us, it is the long distance runner who is able to get that sprint in the last 100-150 meters to pass an opponent or to get a better time. It is the athlete who decided to try a new event and challenge themselves beyond the one or two events they’ve seen success in over the years. Or the athlete who had never participated in track and decided this was their year and nothing was going to stop them.”

Senior Spotlight
Our final Green Ridge student honored with Rotary Student Recognition for 22-23 school year is Mattilyn Mergen! Congratulations to Matti for her excellent academic, athletic, and other extra curricular achievements! She was recognized as GRHS outstanding senior student at yesterday's Rotary Luncheon. Way to go, Matti!
We celebrated our Seniors today with Decision Day. They won awesome prizes, had snacks, and participated in the appreciation stations, where they could write thank-you notes to staff members who have helped them along the way. Our wonderful RootEd College and Career Advisor, Melanie Benitz, planned the event. She has helped students this year, creating post-secondary plans and completing job, scholarship, and college applications, and assisted with completing the FAFSA form. We are so thankful she has been a part of our team at GRHS this year! Good luck to the Senior Class of 2023!
Mrs. Bybee had her sophomore students practicing mig welding today. The students have been improving their skills over the past several weeks! It is amazing to watch! One student even shared her story of tears to triumph!
What school is lucky enough to have a long term substitute teacher with welding experience? GR8, that's who!!! Mrs. Bybee runs a tight ship! Today, her freshmen students were practicing arch welding.
A few week's ago, Reed Mergen, a tiger alum from the Class of 2021, came back to GR8 and demonstrated his welding knowledge and skills with our Vo-Ag students. His visit was the kickstart to welding units for our freshmen and sophomore students.
Mrs. Thompson's 4th graders read a story about the earth which sparked a huge planet study! Students researched planets, wrote a report, and even used paper mache to create the planets they researched! The planets are hanging in the hallway!
Biology classes have been studying genetic disorders. A couple of students took their turn presenting today.
Third grade played Gumball Spelling to practice their spelling words! What a GR8 way to keep students motivated!
Mrs. Shoop introduced her students to a spelling dice game, and the students are hooked! It is engaging, competitive, and a fabulous way to practice spelling words! Ask your student about it!!!
Ms. Brock is guiding students through a classic---A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.
Students in Anatomy and Physiology learned about blood pressure from our very own school nurse! Thank you, Nurse Dee!
Third graders recently worked on informational writing. Their final drafts are currently displayed in the hallway! GR8 work!

Green Ridge Juniors and Seniors traveled to LaMonte on Tuesday to attend their annual career fair. There were numerous local businesses and a variety of careers. The students took this opportunity to ask questions and learn more about different careers.
