From Mrs. Thompson:
"Yesterday, fourth grade went on a field trip to Cole Camp Historic Days. We got to learn about how things worked back in the day! 😉 We got to be taste testers, good listeners, and great learners!"
First grade has been studying how things were in the past compared to how they are now. Mrs. Warner's dad and mom, Denny and Pam Smethers, brought their 1958 Chevy for the kids to see how vehicles have changed! So awesome!!!
More STEAM students earned GR8 behavior rewards this week!
GR8 Behavior in the STEAM Lab equals GR8 Reward!
From Mrs. Dove: "After five weeks of good behavior in Library/STEAM Lab, the students get a “free day” in STEAM Lab. This means they get to work with whatever building supplies they wish and build whatever they want to build!"
Tiger cubs are readers! Tiger cubs are spellers! Tiger cubs are GR8 workers!!!
After reading Jack and the Beanstalk, Mrs. Lamar's class used the STEM design loop (a process of producing a design to a set of given requirements) for building a beanstalk out of index cards and tape. They had to imagine how they would create the beanstalk, then draw out their plan. They discussed with their group and decided which design would work best and created their beanstalks. They measured them to find out who made the tallest one. WOW!!!
HS and JH Soccer travel to Cole Camp tonight. JH will play first, with a start time of 5:00 pm. JH and HS Volleyball travel to Northwest as well. JH will start at 5:00 pm. Good Luck Tigers! Go tigernation
Mrs. Piscopo's class has been practicing the concepts of more, less, and equal in math class. They did this today with partners using number tiles and linking cubes!
From Ms. Tylar: "WebQuest time! This quest took 7th grade students right into the heart of the Constitution." #researchskills
Tiger Volleyball Moves to 4-1 in Conference Play
It’s marathon week for the Lady Tiger volleyball team, playing four matches in four days! The Tigers pounced on Kaysinger Conference foes Lincoln and LaMonte securing both wins in straight sets on Monday and Tuesday, giving the Tigers a 4-1 conference record, 11-7-1 overall.
In Monday night's action, Nevaeh Washington took control at the net with 9 kills while Emery Cannon kept the ball alive on defense with 13 digs. Abby Warner took advantage of opportunities that came her way and turned 50% of her hitting attempts into kills (5). From the service line, Nevaeh was relentless with 6 aces along with 3 aces from fierce serving Jellisa Atwood. Setters Sydney Gordon and Mallory Reed worked to balance the Tiger attack, dishing out 12 and 8 sets. Zakiyah Morse added consistency on serve receive being the only Tiger to post double digits in the category.
Using multiple offense options and tough service, the Lady Tigers secured the win over LaMonte on Tuesday. Without an option for practice this week, Green Ridge took advantage of free ball opportunities to bring on some impressive kill shots. Nevaeh Washington unleashed the Tiger attack with 12 service aces and 11 kills. Sydney Gordon and Emery Cannon both hit above .300 with 6 and 7 kills. Cannon attacked from the service line as well with 5 aces while Jellisa Atwood, Sydney Gordon, and Zakiyah Morse each added 3. Morse once again embraced serve receive with double digit stats. The defense was led by junior setter, Sydney Gordon with 8 digs. Freshman Aliya Edington gained attention assisting the offense with 5 assists while setter Mallory Reed led the category with 12.
Wednesday night Green Ridge will take on Concordia at home with a varsity only match beginning at 5:30PM. Thursday night the Tigers travel to Hughesville to take on the Mustangs with the Junior High competition followed by the varsity.

From Mrs. White: "Our PBIS leadership team brought together a group of students, ranging from 5th-12th grade, to provide a student voice in our PBIS journey. It was great watching and listening to their interactions with one another and hearing their ideas to continue promoting a positive culture at our school."
The Running Tigers had a strong showing at the meet we love to hate - the Hermitage Dam Invitational. It was wonderful to have, nearly, the whole gang here.
Highlights:
👏 Rylee Donaldson medaled and ran nearly a minute faster than last year.
👏 Callie Knoernschild ran this challenging course nearly a minute and a half faster than last year.
👏 Junior Kayli Young ran this, her first ever cross country meet. Her goal was to not finish last and she finished far from it!
👏 Izaiah Lemanski PR'd!
👏 In his first meet of the season Weston Crawfor ran an impressive 20:20 finishing in the top half of the field.
👏 Evee Porter ran a minute and a half faster than last year. Although out of medal territory, Evee finished an impressive 27th out of the massive field of 150.
Congrats Running Tigers! Keep logging the miles. 💪
